Will County
At 200 acres, Blodgett Road Dolomite Prairie, near Wilmington, is the largest dolomite prairie in the Des Plaines River/Kankakee River confluence area. A grant from CorLands, in conjunction with the Chicago District of the US Army Corps of Engineers, is helping to restore the prairie. The project will benefit the several state-listed species at the site and yield useful information for dolomite prairie reconstructions planned for the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie.
